riscilla had actually spent the night in littleroot, as she had taken so long to get to the lab that by the time she left, the sun was so low to the ground that she couldn't even find a reason to head out now. she would have only had an hour to go before having to set up camp and she was going to definitely go as long as she could without having to sleep outside. if she was smart about it, she might at least make it to rustboro before having to camp. the rest of the day, after leaving the lab, was spent with her new totodile, the two getting to know one another. after visiting a park, they got dinner at a very nice little cafe that accommodated pokemon as well, and that was where priscilla christened him gucci. to be honest, he responded more to "gooch" than "gucci", but it was good enough for her.
the next day, priscilla got up with the sun to make sure that she would have enough time to get to oldale town. with gucci still sleeping at the foot of the bed, she busily picked out the basic travel outfit that she had packed in her bag--but oh, no worries, she still had the rest of her clothes in storage in case she got bored--brushed her insane amount of hair before carefully braiding it into perfectly soft pink plaits. the totodile eventually awoke with the goings-on and really only got underfoot, barking and panting and wagging his tail, excited that he had woken up to his beautiful new trainer. to be honest, gucci had thought that everything had been a wonderful dream, but this proved that it wasn't, she had really picked him and she was his new trainer and she had the most wonderful smell and he just knew it was going to be wonderful.
it was still around eight when priscilla left, gucci circling her feet, barking in excitement. he was so cute she could only giggle at his antics, as she felt the same. starting a new chapter of her life, priscilla had no idea what was in store for her, but she knew it was going to be good. in fact, she was feeling so good about it that she dipped into her emergency savings as soon as she saw pokemon eggs for adoption.
a perfect and rather surprisingly warm egg nestled in her arms and an excited totodile at her feet, priscilla slowly made her way out of littleroot town and into her first route, completely unperturbed by the change in setting. she made her way almost blindly, talking to gooch about how excited she was and that he was going to have to be nice because they were going to have a baby in the family soon. priscilla was so wrapped up in the moment that she (almost) forgot that they could be ambushed by wild pokemon--or who knows what else--at any moment.
Annie wasn't a morning person, oh yeah that was the truth, she absolutely loathed being up before noon but maybe she should have picked a different Pokemon if she didn't want to be woken up early. Aria bounced on her chest, head lowering and poking at Annie's sleeping face and cooing softly and trying to gently wake her trainer up. The little bird hopped once, twice, and then a bird time before Annie even stirred, groaning softly and then opening her eyes only for just a second until they closed again. Aria huffed, the Taillow brushing her feathers around Annie's face, clearly working hard to get this done. It wasn't the Pokemon's fault really, Annie had told her to wake her up early but hadn't meant it at all and even if she was excited about heading out that didn't mean she wanted to be at all ready to wake up. Now what did it take to get her up? A bite to the nose that's what, ans though Aria felt guilty about the bite she didn't regret it, they needed to get going after all! She flapped her wings, fluttering up to Annie's shoulder and nesting herself comfortably there once the girl was up.
"Nuh-uh, you bit me you imbécile, you don't get to rest comfortably on my shoulder comme si rien ne se passe!"
When Annie was upset she couldn't focus well on the words she was saying and so often went back to her native tongue, the French just sort of comes out at times, and Aria tilted her head and looked at Annie as though she had grown a whole other head because what kind of words was she even saying? Annie seemed to realize what she was doing and chuckled slightly, shaking her head and sticking her hands in her pockets and thinking that this would be a good punishment for right now, speaking in a completely different tongue just so that this bird would know just how upset Annie was! Not because she missed Kalos though, it was a terrible place, too crowded and too full of people, noisy all the time and everyone looked as though they stepped right out of a magazine, they spent so much money on themselves to make them look good so they can feel good, it was just a depressing place. But she liked the language, her native tongue felt soothing to her ears, even if it was only her speaking it.
"Je oublié vous ne pouvez pas comprendre ce langage."
She said, a bit quietly before gathering her stuff, including an interesting egg that she had found lying around, from the place she had slept in outside the lab, her Taillow said nothing and merely kept her perch on the young trainers shoulder, snuggled and looking at the ground, occasionally looking up and trying to see if Annie still seemed upset or mad, she didn't know if her trainer was the type to hold a grudge. <<I-I'm sah-sorry ah-are you mah-mad?>> The unsure Taillow struggled to speak worse than usual, her nervousness causing her speech impediment to reach quite a high level and it even caused the annoyed Annie to second guess her choices, she shook her head and lifted a hand up, petting the soft feathers of her Pokemon, quickly calming down the once ruffled creature, causing a soft coo to come out of the flying type, obviously pleased with this. Annie chuckled and started on the path once she was sure her Taillow was once again calmed. She didn't know how pokemon were supposed to work but she'd try her hardest to learn that's for sure! She needed to become the best.
It didn't take long with walking that she saw someone with the oddest colored hair ever, actually no that was a lie, she came from Kalos, there were a lot, and I do mean a lot, of weird people with weird styles and ways of doing themselves up and this girl that she saw ahead of her was a very sickening reminder of that fact. Annie was, well to be gentle she wasn't the type of girl one would find shopping or even attempting to take care of her looks. She was all natural, she smelt like the woods that she had gone stomping through to get here, her hair wasn't soft it was rather coarse from the very fact that she only ever used water from rivers and simple soap that she could afford to wash herself with, upon which she was pretty thorough, dirt seemed coated on her and her hair was always kept short, only cut with cheap scissors by Annie herself. She was the complete opposite of this girl, this girl who was just going about her day all innocent like and Annie really did want something entertaining to do so while this girl was busy just la-de-dahing Annie used her amazing sneaking skills and came right up behind the girl and pressed her hands to the others shoulder blades, and yelling really loudly.
"BOO!"

riscilla was not amused. she didn't even like surprises, much less getting scared, and she especially did not appreciate it when it came from strangers, while she was carrying precious cargo. whatever sentence priscilla had been in the middle of was rather rudely interrupted by someone forcefully slamming into her shoulders in an attempt to scare her. it worked, as priscilla squealed, mostly because the egg in her arms had been jostled and she just barely felt it rolling in her arms. everything went slow-motion for a second, but after a few heart-stopping moments while priscilla realized she still had the egg safe in her arms and that it hadn't crashed down onto the ground, priscilla let out a long breath she didn't realize she was holding. after snuggling the egg back into her arms again, she took a deep breath and did a quick round about, her large pink pigtails whipping around her.
"ex-cuse me, can i help you?" she demanded, her face starting to flush in anger. "last i checked, it was quite rude to go slamming into people like that. what if i had dropped my egg??" her large dark eyes narrowed as she stared down this, this wild girl. gooch accompanied her anger with his tiny growl, eyes narrowed at this new girl. priscilla was angry and yelling at her so she must be a bad person. he was going to growl and bark and be as intimidating as possible to make this girl go away because she was upsetting his pretty trainer who was wonderful and perfect because she chose him and that meant she was kind and perfect. as the totodile snarled at this young girl, priscilla had clicked on that critical eye.
this girl was, to be nice, a mess. gross and rough and not elegant or gorgeous at all. obviously messy and loud and obnoxious and had no bit of class whatsoever. obviously raised in a dump. with this realization, priscilla relaxed, straightening up a little. "well, you look like you were raised in the forest, so i can't blame you for being such a rude little girl." with a little "hmph" she raised her nose at this girl, wrinkling it, as if she had smelled something foul.
Annie wasn't usually cruel, well at least in the way that would make people believe that she was a bad person, which she wasn't she simply still has the childish cruelty that you would expect from someone much younger than fourteen. Never growing up around kids her age has forced her into still acting like a six or seven year old, socially anyway, mentally she is rather intelligent but in any case where she is put into a situation that calls for her to be mature she fails, completely and utterly falls short of any sort of expectation that someone may have had for her, rather pathetic but it was simply how she grew up, so much further behind than anyone else her age. Now that we have established how low she is socially lets see how she handles this situation before her.
Annie's eyes widened when she saw that the girl had been carrying an egg, oh crap! She hadn't thought that...she didn't know that the girl had been carrying something like that! Annie's own egg was resting in her bag, so of course she didn't think that someone else was going to have one as well, though if she had known that then of course she wouldn't have done something like that. A hand lifted and rubbed the back of her neck, her mouth opening to say something until the girl spoke. Oh hell no, oh hell no Annie was not going to take that! Now she wasn't going to even give anything remotely close to an apology! Screw that, this girl is the one being rude now and if Annie had fur it would be spiked up and raised in anger, her own eyes narrowing and she was half tempted to pull on this girls stupid braided, pink pigtails. And of course that is exactly what she reached over to do, a hard glare on her face as she stared at the older teen,
"Hey Miss Prissy Pants it wasn't even on purpose, you don't have to go get an attitude with me or anything, I was gonna apologize but now that you're actin' all high and mighty I'm not. You shouldn't even be keeping an egg in your hands like that, what are you stupid?"
She went off, annoyed by how this girl had just assumed that Annie knew that she was holding an egg, uh, of course not! She wasn't a monster she didn't do things like this all willy nilly, well she did but she didn't do these things for anything more than a fun, harmless prank. If she thought it would hurt something innocent physically she wouldn't do it, it just wasn't who she was.
"Oh, and I didn't shove you, you're obviously super weak to think that little push was a freaking shove.
Why did Annie even want to talk to this girl in the first place? She hated people like this, who were prissy and all about their looks, it disgusted her and it probably disgusted this girl to even be around Annie. They weren't good around each other, that was for sure. Annie looked down at the water type when it growled and she gave it a cold glare, her Taillow that was on her shoulder puffed out her feathers, letting out a rather shrill warning to the water type to back off. Aria wouldn't allow her trainer to be threatened by another Pokemon, not on her watch, the little bird hopped a little on Annie's shoulder, shaking it's feathers and attempting to appear intimidating, hoping that the way it's body puffed up bigger and the height she was currently at would set this straight and have that Tododile backing off.
Annie found herself tensing when the Prissy Pants was relaxing, oh of course someone like her would have mentioned looks and just gone off and assumed where she came from. She straightened up to her full height, tall for her age at five foot fix and her anger was growing just a bit more. It was just like back at home, you look bad or different and there were many judging you, the latest trends were everywhere, the clothing stores having new things every day and hordes of people stomping through the city streets with what they felt like was the best clothes, it only made them look stuck up and colorful. Ugly paint blotches on the sidewalk, weird hats and hair styles and clothing that looked as though one could be choked with how tight and uncomfortable they were. Annie hated Kalos, Annie hated people who reminded her of home and how horrible it was, how invisible she was. She was here now! She was the star of the show, and like hell she would let some stuck up person treat her less!
"Je ai grandi dans Kalos vous idiot! Don't act like you know someone based on appearance! I'm gonna be a star, and I won't even have to look fake to do it."
She looked up and down this Prissy Pants, as if seeing all the fake in her, as if seeing that all she was is hair and makeup. Annie huffed right back at her, foot stomping childishly, glare harsh as if she was challenging this girl to say something or do something else.
NOTES:And here goes Annie making some enemies.~ TAGGED:rudolph
s soon as the younger girl started making excuses for herself, priscilla rolled her eyes and shifted her weight from one foot to the other, already bored. she didn't want to listen to some dumb girl acting all high and might and important because sorry, no one was more important than she was. having almost completely stopped listening, priscilla debated on whether she should just ... leave. walk away. let this thing tire itself out. she didn't have to pay attention or anything, did she? but something in priscilla kept her where she was, something that thrived out of conflict and arguments. standing at almost six feet (definitely over if she was wearing heels at all), the twenty one year old barely loomed over this girl and she was not afraid. if things got any more heated up and turned physical, priscilla could definitely hold her own. she fought dirty. plus, she could always sic gooch on her. not paying attention to the girl, she missed the entire speech, though priscilla was sure that she hadn't missed anything of great importance. all she noticed was that the girl was screaming. or at least, talking louder than normal and obnoxiously shouting at her, which was not very proper.
"oh my arceus, could you scream any louder?" priscilla pouted, raising one had to rub her temple. "you're like a child throwing a tantrum." yup, that was it. she didn't even want to be around this headache of a girl anymore. this girl--whatever her name was--had no care about absolutely anything, from her appearance to how to socialize and priscilla was getting sick of it, really. she didn't want to be around such an eyesore anymore.
"you don't even have to apologize, could you just leave? i don't like to associate with barbarians like you." priscilla huffed, tossing one large braid over her shoulder, as if to show that she was done. there was nothing more to gain from the company of such a brat.
