This place didn't scare her, she may be just a girl, too young some may say for such a dangerous mission but who were you to judge her or tell her something like that? The fourteen year old was old enough, mentally prepared for whatever came her way and looking at this place told her that she was in the right place. Annie stared at the desolate areas, people were few and far between and each one had a Pokemon with them, that's because this place was made for only Pokemon Trainers, it was something she planned to become now. She has never, ever had a group to associate herself with or anything other than "Unwanted" to call herself so it was new, it felt different on her tongue than anything she had ever tasted before. It wasn't a bad flavor, merely a different one, unique and something she figured that she could get used to eventually. She was sure it wouldn't take too much time to point to herself and declare that she was now a Pokemon Trainer, a somebody, not an empty face with an emptier name.
Annie found herself staring at the entrance, a few feet away from it which gave a few people the opportunity to get in and out if they so wished it, of course people were just recently allowed to even show up in this area so Hoenn wasn't thriving with anyone yet, even Pokemon trainers though no doubt some would flock here soon in order test their skills right off the bat. A hand lifted and found a flyaway strand in her rather dirtied hair, twirling it around absentmindedly before tucking it right behind her ear. She glanced up at the sky, the sun was strong and she found herself glaring very slightly, she didn't like too much fun because they caused her to get freckles on her face, something Annie did not appreciate too much, she had enough to make herself look okay thank you very much. Freckles...she wondered if it was a trait she gained from her mother or father, of course those names meant nothing, she honestly had no idea what a mother or father were besides that one was the person that birthed you and the other the person that was the reason for your existence in the first place, though they both played a part in some way she supposed. Annie shook her head, raising it high and mighty and strolled through the Lab doors, glancing around and going up to a counter, leaning on it.
"Where is everybody huh? I'm here to get myself a Pokemon."
She declared loudly and proudly, smiling cockily and glancing around, definitely attempting to act older than she looked of course she acted older and she felt older than fourteen, fourteen was the age of a child and she couldn't remember a time when she felt like a child. Someone once told her that children were supposed to go to school, have fun, run around and play with each other. She has been working for a long time, hard? Maybe but she didn't think it was a very bad life, she just wanted more for herself and this was the start, she was strong and she was grand, and she was going to become somebody, she wasn't going to be a nobody anymore or just some face in the crowd!
NOTES:getting into the rhythm of writing a new character, sorry if she's all over the place! TAGGED: no one
She adjusted her glasses in time to the door chiming open and the overconfidence of the youngster only sets a smooth line in her mouth. She's a lab assistant, a more elite than just some student for hire. Her subject is a cheerful pansear and another observer is her own pokemon, an easy-going simipour who waves as the girl sets her arms on the counter. She makes her way to the counter, smooth and serious - she's been doing this for what seems like decades. She blinks once, twice and readjusts the glasses that keep wanting to slide down the bridge of her nose. "We are busy conducting research. We are a lab." She admits dryly as the pansear tries to grab the pen from her grip and the simipour gives a yawn.
"I suppose you are here for your starter." She turns to the simipour and waves it away with a flick of her pen. Some might call that rude, but the simipour who goes by the name of Darwin is incredibly lackadaisical - something to counter-act his owner's seriousness. He disppears for a second behind a pile of growing paper and when he returns, there is a case with three pokeballs in his paws. The pansear who coos with curiosity goes to extend a forward before it being batted away by the lab assistant's pen.
"Bellsprout, Taillow and Torchic are your choices today. You can pick now or if you'd like you can let them go for a bit for a chance to get to know them better."
It wasn't like she didn't understand the concept of someone being busy she simply did not enjoy the idea of someone being too busy for her, it was something she has dealt with her whole life, brushed to the side and pushed away because of the idea that no one has time for you. She was tired of it, it was time to start her own adventure, her journey and her life and she would pick and choose who she has time for this time, it will never be the other way around. The woman that appears act like she has been doing this for long, acts like Annie cares that there are other things going on in this lab. She allows an eyebrow, bushier than what normal girls would have their eyebrows but then again Annie has never cared for personal looks much and never learned how to take care of herself besides the obvious, brush your teeth, wash your hair, wash your body, there was never much time in her life or money to afford anything more than cheap scissors to cut her hair with, not because of dead ends but simply because too long of hair always got in the way and was difficult to keep up. Hair up and away was much more comfortable for the young girl. Anyway back to the situation at hand, the woman was acting as though Annie didn't know, oh she very well knew but she waved her hand around the lab for a moment to emphasize the words that will be coming out of her mouth shortly.
"It's a Pokemon lab for a reason though, it's a place to give starters away in order to help with research right?"
A simple observation, so that means the quicker she got to pick her Pokemon the better it would be for everyone involved, so shush about research woman and give her some choices! Of course that didn't take too long to be honest, she was happy that it didn't and was rather patient when it seemed like things were going her way and she didn't bother to say yes to the woman when she mentioned a starter, she already knew so it was a waste of words right? And when the Pokemon were named she had...absolutely no idea what she was getting herself into. Think over these things Annie, come on now, use your deductive reasoning, Bellsprout, has the word sprout...probably a grass type, Torchic sounds like a torch so maybe a fire type, the last one stumped her completely though, what could it possibly be? Taillow, the name gave her no indication so she was left with no other choice than to release them. She looked thoughtful, like she was trying to decide on which one to pick but to be honest she was trying to figure out the correct way to open the Pokeballs. The button was a clear indication but she didn't know if there was a certain way to press them or maybe if she pushed too hard it would hurt the Pokemon inside. And yes she did think about these types of things. Confidently though she raised her hand and pressed each button individually, finding them surprisingly easy to push in and the fact that the three Pokemon materialized in front of her was a clear indication that she had done it correctly, good! Annie smiled slightly and lifted a hand and pointed at herself, looking between the weak little bean sprout kinda looking grass type, to the little fire type, to the little bird type, all three were small and though they didn't all seem weak looking it was a bit of a downer as her first few choices, but she wanted the best and she would get it!
"Hello! I'm Annie, and I'm trying to choose between you three on who to pick as my partner in crime! Any of ya up for the challenge?"
She asked with a shit-eating grin, arms crossed over her chest and eyebrow raised as she looked at them, they would have to get used to this type of attitude, Annie was a little shit like this all the time and was no doubt a girl that might be hard to get along with and she only hoped one of these three would be able to handle her rather needy, overconfident and hard to please personality. She didn't think too highly of weaklings and would honestly be quick to get rid of them for something better, she was a child at heart, she was underdeveloped socially and still held onto that childishly cruel personality at times and it shows.

The bellsprout was the first to speak, a dynamic female with small beady eyes and a beauty mark on her right cheek. "Bonjour mon amie. I've faced many a trial in my time and I assure you, I'm the pokemon for you." She batted her eyelashes, an accent trailing from her mouth. The taillow next to her ruffled it's feathers in annoyance. "You are s-so f-fake! You aren't even fr-from Kuh-Kalos!" "Are you calling me fake, oiseau?" The bellsprout screeched, ruffling her leaves in displeasure before sniffling. The bellsprout turned her head away, ignoring both the taillow that continued to chirp and chide the grass-type pokemon.
"Anyways.. I th-think I'm your b-best b-bet! I work hard !" The taillow stuttered out - the words falling from the pokemon's lips eagerly. She had the speech problem since as long as she could remember, and it took her time to formulate words, to get them across eloquently - as the lab assistant said. The Bellsprout said nothing and made rude faces as the taillow talked, rolling those small beady eyes. "Please! The young cherie will want me!" The taillow huffed in displeasure as the rift between them grew.
In through all of this, the torchic was quiet - opting just to shuffle it's feet and stare at the floor. What were it's thoughts? It was hard to tell.
Annie didn't care about personality so much as she wanted to see what these Pokemon were, she wanted to look at them and try to measure their strengths and weaknesses, automatically she could tell that she liked two of them, even if the Bellsprout was skinnier than a twig it seemed to have spunk and Annie enjoyed someone who knew their strengths despite how small they might be. Though it seemed as though her feelings were hurt when the bird started to speak, a rather strange speech impediment was very clear but Annie was patient enough to deal with it and found that she really did like the flying types ability to speak out against any kind of bs when she sees it, of course it could be that they were really just competing to see which one would be taken this time around, that really was probably the reason but it still let her see more of who they were. She looked between the two, her eyes floating over to the quiet and rather shy acting Torchic but it didn't seem interested in doing anything but standing there and shuffling it's little feet, and had yet to make any sort of eye contact. Annie was a bit annoyed about that, she didn't like not being noticed, she had not been noticed her whole entire life, she's spent most of her life another face in the crowd and the last thing she needed was something else treating her as such.
She turned her attention back to the two who were actually paying her some mind and doing a pretty good job of impressing her, she had absolutely no clue on what moves they had or anything of the sort, but she would learn and she felt like it might be fun, traveling with someone other than herself, she's never had many friends in her life, she's actually never had friends in general so it was a whole new thing and she didn't know how to treat anyone, she barely knew how to treat herself. All she knew for sure was that she was going to go far, she wasn't going to be the pitiful little girl anymore, she was adult enough for this and she would become perfect, her and this little Taillow, that's right, she's made her choice.
"I've made my decision, Taillow...we're gonna become the best together. Now how about a name, how do you feel about Aria? I think it's got a pretty feel to it."
She said with a hum, nodding her head as she thought it over in her head again, pleased with being able to come up with the name all on her own and in a split second no less! Well she was ready to head out.
NOTES: Finally picking out the partner! TAGGED:Haunter
For the bellsprout it seemed quite obvious that she would be the wanted one, but when the young girl spoke up, the bellsprout gave a gasp of dismay. The weird little lips around it's head quivered but damn, if the bellsprout wasn't a lady and ladies didn't cry in public. It bowed it's head in defeat, sticking out it's tongue at the taillow's obvious joy.
The torchic continued to shuffle it's feet and upon realizing it hadn't been chosen merely shrugged it's tiny shoulders and hunkered down - becoming a tiny orange fluffball.
The taillow gave a happy caw, spreading it's wings and nearly tackling the girl in glee."Oh, I'll m-make y-you the ha-ha-happiest trainer! " The taillow was almost tearing up but quickly brushed them away, replaced with fiery determination. The lab assistant pushed the glasses higher up her nose and filed the rest of the pokemon away. "Congratulations." She said smoothly, before nodding and she and her pokemon dispersed.
TAILLOW FEMALE LVL FIVE PECK, GROWL, FOCUS ENERGY
Personality : This tailow is a rather studious creature. Although slightly cautious, it makes up with determination and an amazing sense of guidance. Sometimes it can be hesitant, both in actions and words. The taillow has trouble forming words properly - often stuttering and sometimes mixes up the meaning of her words. She can sometimes need some re-assurance in her actions but she's incredibly loyal - a wonderful travelling companion.
