She crowed in excitement - practically kicking open the door with her boot. She had the sneaking suspicion she was very early for her pokemon or incredibly late but she wasn't that concerned. She was just eager to get her journey started. She tried to imagine her new partner - perhaps a feisty shinx or maybe a rip-roaring dragon. Ooh, the possibilities were endless. That being said, she entered the laboratory with eagerness - hardly thinking that she might be caught for trespassing.
She knocked, remembering that was needed but she was practically jumping on the tips of her toes. "Hello! Olly-Olly-Oxen-free!"
She waited for a reply, ready to sprint out the door at a moments notice. Dewford, although quaint and homely, was small and killed any hopes of a real adventure before she had a chance to even dream them. On the mainland, it was a different story. A different kind of life. Although Dewford had the hustle and bustle that came with island life and tourists, it was nothing compared to the dusty roads and birch trees that would line the side of the roads. Even the pokemon came in different varieties.
Perhaps it would be this type of naivety that would be her downfall but for now, Olivier Harper was content with the smile on her face and ideas that were running through her head at eighty miles per hour. Not to mention, Dewford Town, her little home, was on the gym list. Yes, she would be seeing her house and her grandparents again soon. Once to get a badge and the next time she would be going home, she'd be taking her brother with her.
The thought alone steeled her reservoir even more and she clenched a fist in fiery determination. She was walking out of here not Olivier Harper, normal citizen but Olivier Harper - pokemon trainer.
There is indeed a time and place for acting like a complete idiot, or a obnoxious weirdo and the young assistant did not believe that when you go to get your first ever Pokemon that you completely make yourself known to be an oddball. It's too bad Jeremy seemed to be the only one who thought that like, when he went to get his first Pokemon you didn't see him skipping through the doors and yelling out random things in order to get attention, or demanding something that was supposed to be a gift, a friend to better themselves. He let out a rather dramatic sigh hoisting himself to the full height of six feet tall, hands stuffed in his lab coat and rather lazily walking out to go meet the strange person who felt like yelling in a lab filled with working people who were trying to get experiments done was a good idea. At least the person knocked, unlike most who just barged in, he put on his working face, remember to smile and act like you don't have anything better to do! It was practically the written agreement that in order to be the assistant you had to do all the dirty work the real scientists didn't feel like they should have to do.
He opened up the door and motioned the girl inside, black hair neatly trimmed and kept as tidy as he kept the lab, though really it was only for appearance, Jeremy was perhaps one of the most disorganized people you would ever meet if it didn't involve his work, his room is the biggest mess out there. He turned and quickly went behind the counter, pressing a button on a machine that popped up the available Pokemon for the today.
"You're here for your pokemon right?"
He asked curiously, looking up and staring at the girl in order to make sure, once he was confident he left the room momentarily, grabbing hold of the available pokemon and then set them down on the counter in three dips that were the perfect size to hold these Pokeballs. He pointed to each one as he spoke,
"Your choices are Shellder, Squirtle, or Snover. You can pick right off the bat or...if you want you can do a little meet and greet, it's sort of a good idea in case you want to see if you and your new partner will work out well together."
He always recommended some time with the Pokemon, they were all generally rather unique creatures with sometimes very strange personalities to boot and it was never a good idea to pick and choose without even seeing how one reacts.
She followed him inside, careful not to step on his heels but damn, if she wasn't riding his coat-tails. She couldn't help it - her excitement refused to waver and now that she was inside, well - there was no point in letting it stop growing.
She watched the assistant eagerly - perhaps overstepping her boundries by peering over his shoulders to watch but as he turned, she dropped away. She was constantly moving, a figure that never stopped never hesitated. She was a bundle of energy and she would need a pokemon that could match it or perhaps a pokemon that could ground her. She clapped her hands and mused her options for perhaps about zero point two seconds before she practically exploded.
"Of course I want to meet them! Let's introduce ourselves!" She grinned, pressing the pokeball buttons. She liked the idea of a squirtle team-mate if only because it was the pokemon she was familiar with. But the others sounded unique as well and she was terribly excited to make her choice. She only hoped that they were as eager as her to start a wondrous journey.
Jeremy was a guy with simple interests and one of his favorite things to watch was when someone was meeting their soon-to-be partner, oh it was almost as exciting to him as it was for them! He chuckled when he could practically feel her right behind him, it was amusing how excited she was, he saw children come in here less excited than this woman, of course she was more like a teenager than an adult though and he liked the fact that someone was so happy to be meeting a partner. Most of the ones given away from the lab were partners for life with their trainer so it was such a wonderful thing to see the start of a very long and consistent friendship, maybe it was just him thinking this but he loved his job, despite all the stuff he had to put up with things like this certainly made it worth it.
He leaned against the counter and watched as she eagerly opened up the Pokeballs and he had a feeling that her excitement will easily rub off on the Pokemon, it seemed like it was rather contagious after all. The Snover appeared first and watched silently as the two others appears and with a stretch he bounded over to the girl and his eyes gleamed happily, poking her with the little finger-like spikes, gently though so not to hurt her and offered a pleased look. No mouth pretty much meant that the grass/ice type could only communicate via motions and very expression filled eyes, though the Snover didn't seem upset at the predicament, in fact he was a rather happy Pokemon and was nearly just as excited at meeting a potential trainer as his trainer was of meeting them. He looked over at the other two, bouncing back a little in order to give the others room to talk and in the meantime he waved his arms back and forth, watching everything that was going on. The Shellder rocked back and forth and looked up, the visible eyes staring at the trainer curiously and was about to speak before the Squirtle jumped on it's shell and promptly forced it down and her body tilting forward to block any kind of contact she may have had with the human, <<Oooh hello! Oh wowzers I really can't believe this is happening, it's so nice to meet you, I'm completely honored to be your new Poke-Heeey!>> She let out a whine when Snover gently lifted the small, excitable water type and set her down next to the Shellder who was finally able to open her shell fully and look up at the human. <<She hasn't picked yet Shell-for-brains!>> The Shellder said unhappily, <<I-uh, sorry about that, it's super to meet you really...I'm a lot tougher than I seem, even if that shellfish managed to close my shell on me that doesn't mean....oops! I didn't mean to go off on a tangent like that I'm just so nervous and-!">> The Shellder closed her shell, on her own accord this time, embarrassed by how she was acting. The Squirtle giggled a little and poked at the others shell, the Snover watching on like a kind big brother at their interactions, he was much more mature though was excited and nervous as well, it wasn't everyday that you get shown off to someone after all.
She didn't mean to fall in love with them all at once but she did. She always had a big heart and that meant she had room to spare. When the snover reached his arms up in greeting, she nearly scooped him up in her arms. She had to be a cool diplomat though, trying to keep a level-head and still be open to the others.
The squirtle was just as cute, whose eagerness matched her own. The snover was quite mature and although his anticipation was hidden by silence, the others quarreled in the way that reminded Oli of siblings. "Aren't you guys just the best?!" She said with a happy smile, getting down to her knees to see them eye to eye.
She laughed as the shellder closed her shell in embarrassment, not a teasing laughter but one that was gentle and friendly. Oh, if she hadn't such a large heart than maybe she could just pick one and get it over with but she did. She fell in love with almost everything and the trio in front of her was no different. If she could, she'd scoop them all up in her arms and run. But she had to pick one - she had to pick the partner that would help her continue her journey, help her find her brother.
She narrowed her eyes and then sighed - sad that she had to part from the pokemon she had just met. "If I could pick all of you I would. I'd steal you all. " She reached a finger underneath the shellder's shell, hoping that it would tickle the pokemon and that the eyes would poke out from the shell. She raised a hand to pat the squirtle happily on the head before turning to the snover.
"We are going to have the best adventures, you and I." She said warmly, gathering the dual type pokemon in her arms. It was quiet but friendly, qualities that reminded Olivier of her brother. Yes, this was the perfect fit. She was sure of it.
It wasn't bad not to be chosen, after all there are three options and they all have long come to terms with the fact that two of them will be left behind for someone else to pick from, it was disappointing, sure, but they weren't bitter or upset about it at all, in fact they were always happy of the Pokemon that got picked. Jeremy was pleased that he never once saw a Pokemon get angry about the choices made, they would all be picked up eventually after all so it wasn't something that they had to be worried about. They loved this trainer, she was nice and sweet and they all wished to go with her but they knew it wouldn't be so but they wouldn't be upset of this there was almost a secret promise between the three, no one would be sad, it was a time to celebrate when they found a partner.
The Shellder looked up and giggled when the human had tickled her, and the little water type certainly seemed happy now, not nearly so embarrassed and both the Squirtle and Shellder looked up at her with a smile and were quick to tell her no harm was done when she picked the Snover and instead they went over, the Squirtle patting the grass/ice type on the back and looking happy, the Shellder voicing it with a quiet, <<Congrats.>> The Snover was beyond happy, his eyes shined with joy and a bit of tears maybe because he didn't really think he'd get picked this time around, he was sure the others were more for her but he wasn't one to complain. He nodded at Oli's words, blinking when her arms went around him and he would chuckle if he could his arms going around her and giving her a hug, pleasantly surprised to have such a lovely trainer, promising to himself that he would keep her safe and be the best he could be.
He's what others would call the silent type, not by his own accord of course, he was simply born that way because of his lack of mouth to speak with, that doesn't make him any less able to communicate though. He has a clear way of showing his emotions, whether that be through body language or simply through his eyes. He is a kind Pokemon though, he is caring and the big brother type and can be very protective of his trainer and the Pokemon in her team, he will fight to protect her but other than that he is much more of a passive type of character, he advocates working out your differences through any means other than fighting, this means he won't fight to prove a point he'll only fight when he needs to or merely for the fun of it and the bonding experience between Pokemon and Trainer, for any other means it isn't worth it.
