riscilla had pumped herself up with so much excitement about this new chapter in her life that she had started deluding herself again. a rather frequent happening, she fantasized about the journey, how she was going to get an adorable little starter who would be some battling prodigy and the two would go forth and burn down anyone in their way. with a great and powerful (and beautiful) team of pokemon, she would claim the title as pokemon champion, and then elesa would really have to reconsider. though, maybe at that point, why even look back? she would already be on top.
her head stuck in this hazy daydream, priscilla took her time as she got ready for the day, taking an extra hour than usual to get dressed and make sure she looked perfect from every angle. she did know that this might be the last chance she had at having the luxury to take her time. from now on, she was going to be on a pokemon journey, and that might mean she might have to deal with sleeping on the ground and -- eurgh. shoving that thought out of her mind, priscilla slowly took her time pampering herself and packing her bag. somehow--somehow--she had been able to condense her belongings to fit in a rather large messenger bag, and everything else had gone into storage. still, it had been strange to pack everything away like that. being rather materialistic, priscilla was used to having nice things around her. plus, she had gotten everything through her own hard work, so she felt a real possessive connection to all of her things. but it wasn't like she was going to be able to lug a trailer around with her all the time.
it was already past noon by the time she left the hotel, but she still had to make it all the way to littleroot, as she had only made it as far as oldale yesterday. thankfully, there was a bus, and in another hour, she was dropped off at the town center, where people were friendly enough to answer her questions about the laboratory. at least the sun was still up by the time she arrived at the lab. late afternoon, the breeze was finally picking up, cooling everything down despite the sun. there was a chill in the air, signalling the coming change of season, which priscilla was looking forward to. winter was such a more elegant season than summer. readjusting the strap of her messenger bag, the slim girl walked up to the laboratory door and knocked on it, three quick, impatient raps on the large metal door. "excuse me, is anyone in?"
Her head hit the desk at the voice that echoed through the lab. She panicked, dropping her pokeballs and work assignments - scattering them like early snow. She bit her lip as the door opened slightly. Where were the actual professors? The lab people? She just ordered the mail and kept the filing neat in the quite disorganized lab of Hoenn. Nonetheless, she did her best to pick up her items - trying to juggle them like she was in a circus act. None the less, she was chipper as she greeted the youngster at the door.
"Oh hello! Come in, come in." She smiled, adjusting her elbows to capture the binders that were slipping from her grasp. She managed to keep all but a single pokeball from escaping her grasp and with a sigh of defeat, she just dropped her books by the desk. She brushed a auburn strand of hair away from her face and blinked before smiling again, picking up the spare pokeball. "I'm afraid Professor Birch is out at the moment but I can help you! What can I assist you with?" She said smoothly, keeping her hands behind her back. Unless it was a thief or some sort of person from the bank - she could happily assist. Besides, running the lab while the head honcho was out couldn't be that hard.
he disorganized room didn't really bother her. in fact, she had assumed that was the sign of a good laboratory. someone who was too dedicated to what he was doing to concentrate on anything else--or something like that, anyway. when the assistant lady signaled that yes, she could help out with obtaining a starter, priscilla slowly started perusing around the office, not being too nosy, but curious. this kind of intellectual stuff was absolutely foreign and stab-your-eyes-out boring to her, so it was fascinating that other people were making their lives around it. there was a colorful looking chart, but everything was just a jumble of letters and numbers and symbols she had absolutely no idea what to make of it. how fascinating. she had almost gotten too absorbed in looking around that the lady's voice startled her.
"oh," she said, before taking a few steps closer to the desk, a if she hadn't been (rudely) looking at everything. at least she hadn't opened anything, that would have really been rude. "my name's priscilla sinclaire--with an e at the end. and i was born in nimbasa city." which was half true. slightly true. in a way, if you had a warped sense of reality as priscilla did, it was true. physically she had been born in virbank, but in nimbasa, the priscilla sinclaire who existed today had been born. plus, she had changed her last name to sinclaire in nimbasa--the memories from virbank weren't real to this priscilla. she pursed her lips as she leaned against the desk, one hand splayed on the wooden surface as she leaned her weight onto her arm. she hated talking about her past, so that the woman had even asked about her hometown irked her--even if it was necessary.
out of the corner of her eye, she watched the pokeballs, wondering what kind of pokemon were inside. what would her choices be today? it was honestly fortunate that she had been keeping an eye on it, for if she hadn't, she wouldn't have noticed them releasing until it was too late. with a little squeak, priscilla took a step back, just as the minun materialized right where her hand had been. the appearance of the pokemon seemed to trigger something in priscilla and for the first time (ever, really), there was a little glint of something behind her eyes. suddenly, the assistant barely existed to her as she absorbed the three pokemon in front of her. with a giggle, she went to kneel down, propping herself up on her heels, a small smile on her face. "aren't you all so freaking a-dor-able?" she cooed. it was going to be a hard choice. maybe. the turtwig seemed lethargic--maybe a medical issue?? but that minun was a cutie. striking a pose like that, obviously eager and ready to impress. she started to reach for the small rodent pokemon when the totodile barked(?) and started to dance around her.
he almost immediately lost interest in her and started sniffing a pile of papers instead, but suddenly priscilla was enamored. the sleek cerulean scales and the sharp red scales. there was a dangerous sense of beauty and suddenly priscilla saw herself standing next to a giant feraligatr, her own beautiful monster.
"i'll take the totodile," priscilla suddenly announced, standing up straighter.

"Oh yes of course! A starter!" Of course, she knew the paperwork about them but she had never met the brand new trainers herself. A journey for the both of them, it seemed. The assistant eyed the trainer's bright pink hair with no scrutiny before whipping behind the paper cluttered desk with a slight purse of her lips. Right, starter pokemon. She found a clipboard with a letter that should have been sent weeks ago and as she ducked to look underneath the desk, she found someone's canteen.
She hated to seem so disorganized but that was the way things were around here. She turned around slightly, glancing into the file cabinet. Trainer profiles, printed out pages of some of the pokedex. On the bottom drawer there was the treasure. Pokeballs in nice little holes - perhaps the most organized thing in the office. Some were missing - no doubt from earlier trainers walking by and the assistant grabbed the three closest to her. She slammed it shut with her hip and walked back to the new trainer with a smile on her face.
"Right, so here's your pokemon. I just need your name and place of birth so I can a trainer card printed out for you." She said with cheer, settling herself near the computer with a coffee mug resting on the top. The pokeballs quivered on the desk in excitement and she clapped her hands but she couldn't stop them in time before they released themselves of their own accord.
The totodile was released, jaws snapping the air in eagerness - a puppy with big jaws and even bigger cache of energy. By it's side was a slightly sleepy turtwig, who although equally eager - seemed to be dozing off on her own four feet. Last but certainly not least, a minun who looked up the lady with eager eyes and then clicked his teeth together before sliding into a 'cool guy' pose. Obviously the lady-killer of the group. However, the assistant apologized. "Oh goodness, they must be eager to meet you. Uhm - " She paused to bite her lip as the totodile danced around the trainer before pausing to sniff a rather large pile of paper. "You are welcome to choose one right now or try to get to know them a better if you'd like!"

She entered the information quickly - obviously more at home behind the computer desk than she was running around trying to find pokemon for people. Every now and then she would pause in her typing to glance over to the newbie - whom although showed signs of being rather odd, had only proven to be quite well-mannered to the assistant. She was jumpy though, and rather a klutz but compared to Professor Birch and his crew, she was quite organized. She finished the touch ups with a smile and started to print the document - one for filing and the rest to be nice and cleanly cut on a brand new trainer's card.
By the time she looked up, Ms. Sinclaire had decided and her eagerness was rather infectious. "Oh, I'm so glad to hear that!" She turned around her chair, taking the trainer card and applying the last finishing touches before sliding it over the desk. She glanced to the motley crew. The totodile, whom was always content, picked up his heels and gave a strange sort of bark. The turtwig nodded, but if it was in agreement to Ms. Sinclaire's desicion or rather nodding off to sleep had yet to be deciphered. The minun pouted for a moment before nodding, after all, a lady's man always agreed with the lady.
The assistant gathered the items together and brought her hands together. "Oh I'm so happy for you Ms. Sinclaire. If you have any more questions or concerns, I'd be happy to help - but if not, I hope you enjoy your journey." She almost waved the young lady away until she released she was missing something. "Oh goodness, I nearly forgot!" She gasped, nearly flying out of her chair and behind an incredibly large stack of paper. When she emerged she had a small brown parcel and although extremely flustered, she managed to smile. "Here's a few things to get you started on your journey!"
ONE MALE TOTODILE LVL FIVE TORRENT
This little totodile is quite eager to please! Although he doesn't speak a lick of english,
he makes his thoughts heard through barking, growling and yipping. A lab pokemon
raised for trainers - he grew up with growlithe parents - thus, permenantly reducing his speech
and his actions to dog-like qualities. Just because he likes to chase the tennis ball around doesn't make
